Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. While it's a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the U.S., the annual fiesta is an excuse to indulge in margaritas, cervezas (beer), guacamole and tacos. We love a good reason to celebrate with loved ones but please remember to pace yourself, hydrate, and don't forget to designate a sober driver if you're celebrating away from home.
Safety Tips for Your Cinco de Mayo
Celebrate responsibly; always designate a driver or take a taxi to and from your event
Always be aware of emergency exits and well-lit meeting places in the event of an emergency.
Ask what’s in your drink. Many drink specials will include high-proof alcohols so you’ll need to reduce your consumption accordingly.
Take your time returning home. Not everyone parties smart, so stay alert on the drive home or if you’re walking back to your destination.
