Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. While it's a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the U.S., the annual fiesta is an excuse to indulge in margaritas, cervezas (beer), guacamole and tacos. We love a good reason to celebrate with loved ones but please remember to pace yourself, hydrate, and don't forget to designate a sober driver if you're celebrating away from home.

Safety Tips for Your Cinco de Mayo

  • Celebrate responsibly; always designate a driver or take a taxi to and from your event

  • Always be aware of emergency exits and well-lit meeting places in the event of an emergency.

  • Ask what’s in your drink. Many drink specials will include high-proof alcohols so you’ll need to reduce your consumption accordingly.

  • Take your time returning home. Not everyone parties smart, so stay alert on the drive home or if you’re walking back to your destination.
